• Hi. Default permalinks work fine, but once I choose custom permalinks from settings>permalinks menu they do not work (once you click any blog post you get 404 post not exsist)

    Never had such issues on any blogs, but only on this one. Maybe it has something to do with all in one seo pack I installed?

  • well maybe you can tell us what u put on custom permalinks box?

    I used All in one Seo pack and custom permalinks and as far as i’m concern, i have no problem with url. However, if u believe the plugin is the source of the problem, you may try to disable the plugin for a while.

    Make sure .htaccess is writable. Else, u must update .htacess on your own via FTP.

    I did not put anything special custom, I just chose any of the available options that are besides default. Like date+post title or whatever simple.
    Ok I deactivate it and it works, but after I activate it again, permalinks does not work again. I see there are permalinks field in that plugin settings, so maybe I must edit those because they “overpower” the settings from standart permalink menu or something…

    OK sorry, my mistake, deactivated plugin and permalinks is not working. I can use only default permalink. WHAT CAN BE THE PROBLEM? Its strange because I set up many blogs and its the first time I have this problem and I did not do anything different…

    ok.just to make sure. when u said date+post or whatever u want to put on custom permalinks, u must put the term using the format.

    Eg: if u want to put category+postname, u must write something like /%category%/%postname%/

    year ==> %year%
    month ==> %monthnum%
    day ==> %day%

    After u click “save” or “update”, please make sure the status is NOT like:
    “If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t…..”
    If so, please update .htaccess manually.

    I don’t need to make sure because I don’t even need to type those %post/%date whatever – they are already there in permalinks menu. All I need to do is choose one of the 4 and thats it. SO they are 100% without mistakes as they are not typed in by me, but just chosen from settings>permalinks menu.

    And no I do not get htaccess error or anything.

    Its very mystical, like I said I did it 100’s of times before without problems, but suddenly it does not work on one blog..
