nominatim.openstreetmap.org connection refused

The plugin is awesome.

However, within few minutes of installation. I started getting this error: nominatim.openstreetmap.org connection refused

After a little google, it looks like this is the API policy violation:

“The following uses are strictly forbidden and will get you banned: … Auto-complete search This is not yet supported by Nominatim and you must not implement such a service on the client side using the API.”

Is there a way to disable this auto-search on every character, and instead do a search only on clicking search. Or on focus blur.
