    Hi Guys,
Google decided to put one of my Author pages as a site link to my site in the search results.

I’ve checked the checkbox asking google not to index the author page over a month ago and it’s still showing as a site link in google.

    Here is my site:

  • Hi @aviry

    Thanks for reaching out.

Can you confirm the URL is set to noindex via Yoast SEO? This guide will help:?https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/

If it’s already been set to noindex but is still being shown on the search results, then you might need to wait for some more time. Also, sometimes, it takes a while before your updated page gets crawled and indexed. Luckily, there are tools in Google Search Console that can help you speed up the crawling and indexing processes. Refer:?https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/

I did removed a specific author page from being indexed over 1 month ago and it’s still showing up.
I just found I can make the author archive to not get indexed so I think I’ll try that.

    Thanks for your reply.

Can you please provide us with the author page you set to noindex but is still showing in the search results, so that we can check into this further?

    Sure.
    https://inbaraviry.co.il/author/inbaraviry/page/2/

that’s the link google is showing in the site links in the screenshot I provided, and the one I’m trying to set “noindex” to.

    @aviry,

Checking the pages source, we confirmed ‘noindex’ meta is present on the source of the author page and its paginated links. This is enough for search engines to exclude such URLs from search results and we expect URLs will disappear over time.

Therefore, we request resubmitting the sitemap:
    1. Clear all your caching from your theme, plugin, server, CDN like CloudFlare or browser. If you are not sure how to clear caching from theme/plugin please speak to those authors. If you want to clear cache from the server, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from a browser use this guide:?https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/

    2. Delete your sitemap in Google. Doing so will not hurt the SEO of the site. This guide explains more (scroll to the bottom):?https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/183669?hl=en.

    3. Submit the sitemap again. Be sure to submit only sitemap_index.xml and nothing else. This guide explains more:?

    4. Monitor the results to see if the issue is resolved. It can take some time before Google can report on the crawled URLs after you re-submit your sitemap. Google Search Console reports?are not real-time.

Please let us know if you have any questions; we’re happy to help.
