    I am using WordPress Avada.

All of my outbound links have a rel=”nofollow” attribute.

I was told that maybe it is the Yoast plugin so I disabled but I still get the nofollow.

In the advanced section of Yoast the “Should search engines follow links on this Page” is set to Yes.

In the Advanced SEO analysis I get this warning: Outbound links: All outbound links on this page are nofollowed.

Can somebody please shed some light as to why this is happening? I have been doing a lot of outbound linking to help bolster my SEO but it seems that something is preventing this from happening. Could it be a conflicting plugin?

    Thanks,
    Slappy

    Hello @slappyjmarsden

Thanks for reaching out about your outbound links. Before changing settings in the Advanced tab of the Yoast SEO meta box, you mentioned that you were told that your outbound links have a rel=”nofollow” attribute. Can you let me know where you were told that? Please provide us with screenshots that highlight the issue you are experiencing. You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

Thanks for the screenshot, @slappyjmarsden. It means that outbound links you have included in your post (not the post itself) have nofollow attribute. Do you want the links in the post to be followed by search engines?

Yes, I want the outbound links in the post to be followed by search engines.

For each URL in the post that has a nofollow link, remove the nofollow tag. When you click on the link, there should be three options. Ensure to toggle the button OFF for “Search engines should ignore this link”. You can read more here

I don’t get those options when editing links.

Thanks for sharing the helpful screenshot, @slappyjmarsden. The feature to add or remove?nofollow?links in posts is limited to the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg), which your screenshot shows you’re not using. You can test or confirm this by creating a new post with the default WordPress content editor.

Unfortunately there is some kind of issue when loading the Gutenberg editor. The editor loads, but 3-4 seconds later the entire editor screen goes white. Perhaps it is something related to Avada + Yoast or another plugin issue?

I have worked hard to better my SEO score by implementing a lot of Outbound links. I wish there was an easier way to just allow all outbound links to be followed.

Having to go back and edit every single outbound link to remove the nofollow is a very large undertaking with well over 200 pages on my website.

Sadly, the Yoast SEO plugin doesn’t have a feature to edit your links in bulk and remove nofollow tag

Yoast turns all outbound links to nofollow by default???

    Where art thou Maybellyne?

Update: Problem solved. Turns out another plugin we were using was adding the nofollow links (WP External Links)

I’m running into this same issue except I’m using Gutenberg. I have untoggled the nofollow feature on the edit page under each link, but they still show on the published page as nofollow links.
