No way to get to other pages

I can’t seem to get my site to display multiple pages. The default code in my template is:
<?php link_pages('
Pages: ', '
', 'number'); ?>
but it doesn’t seem to do anything and therefore, there’s no way for my visitors to access my other posts. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
