I expect to have options to show/hide a widget if I am displaying a custom post type, or better, a particular one. This is not an option.

The only place I see I can even set this is if I select “Page” from left menu, then it displays my custom post types in the right menu – BUT THIS MAKES NO SENSE. Pages are not custom post types.

    Howdy,

While perhaps not the best placement in terms of information design, that option will work as you’d like.

When the Post Type: [your CPT] is selected, it will hide/show the widget on CPT post on that type.

I opened an enhancement request at https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/750 regarding the CPT placement.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the quick response- that does work well for my Custom Post Type Items, mine type is called “core” and I am using Visibility to hide a search box and show a widget of Core Categories

But where I cannot find a way to use visibility on the archive for my CPT (I have a custom archive template) – there seems to be no selection beyond all archives.

    Am I missing something?

CPT archives is something we don’t cover yet, though on the roadmap. Talking internally, I think we’re going to try to cover both issues (the placement of CPTs and adding the flexibility of indicating single CPT posts or CPT archives) in one push.

Too early to give you a timeline, but we’ll get there. ??
