created player same size s video ( an .flv file held on our server).
Added external link and chose custom player.

It makes a shortcode that looks right but when I upfate oage and view I just either:

1) see shortcode text on page (static page)

or 2) see nothing (when tried to insert on a post)

any clues to what I am doing wrong?

Sorry, I meant a link to where you embedded the player on your site.

However, if you use this shortcode, the video should play fine:

Basically (in Firefox on a mac) when page is loading video player is visible for a split second then dissappears.

I see. In the admin setting of the WP plugin, what is the default mode set to – Flash or HTML5?

Hm, maybe another plugin/theme is clashing, then. Can you try the default theme and disable plugins to test?

From the front end it looks like your putting the shortcode in an area called “featured-content” and not in the main content area for that page. Does this make sense, not seeing the backend I can’t know for sure?

The JW player shortcode doesn’t use the WordPress shortcode API and only filters $the_content which is a page/posts main content section.

Obviously not sure that’s your problem, it just looks like it from the outside. Does the shortcode work in a normal post?

Tried it in a normal post. Player appears for a second then disappears.
Will try in other section.

I have done a lot of work setting up the theme. Will not changing to a different theme lose all that work?

I can set up a test account and try it on that.

looks like making a test account will be a lot of work. can you tell if changing theme will lose work?

If you change themes, you should be able to change it back. Maybe try with disabling plugins first to test then.
