• The formatting I apply to text in my story (i.e., bold or italic formatting), doesn’t show up on the front page, but does show up on the article page. What gives?

    Also, I’m wondering how to make more of the story show up on the front page. I have “full text” selected for “For each article in a feed, show…” in the Reading Settings.

  • Sounds like a theme-specific issue. It would be easier to help if we could see the site in question.

    Possibly a related issue, the text I have on my only published page doesn’t display on my WP blog?

    Thanks anyone for pointers to what setting I may have wrong or ? ?

    Update : I solved my problem by hit and miss : deactivating an apparently conflicting plug-in solved my problem of no text displaying on my published page. ‘Hope this helps someone else troubleshoot their similar problem.

    The original problem in this thread may still be unresolved.

    The function that causes the formating to be stripped out is located wp-includes/formatting.php in the basic wordpress area.

    Line 1490
    $text = strip_tags($text);

    I was able to get the formatting to come through by commenting out this line. I am sure there is a better way to turn this on and off…but that is how I resolved it.
