Unfortunately on my WordPress install when I activate the plugin there is no menu access to the plugin on the left side. Also on plugin list your plugin doesn’t have any link to going into the settings. I’m unable to try your plugin unfortunately. On a demo instance works, on my production website not.

That must be where the problem lies. Do you know what’s causing this redirection? And why don’t we get a 404 (or the translated page)?

I have no idea because I tested with your plugin active only.
I see I have this issue on my two personal website. One of this if I use the slug /en/ redirect to an article with a long URL. I will see, this seems to be an issue related to my install and not to your plugin.

I’m trying to look into database with the plugin search and replace but I cannot find nothing as mydomain.ext/en/ – if you get some idea on how can I find what is the cause any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Thanks for the help.

If you disable all plugins, including wpLingua, what happens when you go to https://domain.ext/en/ ?

And what happens when you go to https://domain.ext/en/a-valid-slug/ ?

    Still be redirected to domain.ext

And what happens when you go to https://domain.ext/en/a-valid-slug/ ?

I get redirected to domain.ext/a-valid-slug/ seems the /en/ is removed from the URL.

I don’t understand what can be.
In another WordPress website with all plugins deactivated if I point to https://www.peopleinside.it/en/ I get redirected to an article https://www.peopleinside.it/2022/01/18/encanto-al-alma-el-abrazo/

Thank you for doing this test. I have also checked on my own. It seems normal that https://domain.ext/en/a-valid-slug/ is redirected to https://domain.ext/a-valid-slug/

But https://domain.ext/en/ should return a 404 error. I guess there’s an unwanted redirect persisting on your site. This prevents wpLingua from intercepting the page and translating it, as it is redirected first.

If this redirection is not caused by a plugin, it may be in the HTACCESS. Do you have any custom properties in this file?

I don’t see any htaccess custom rule that can do this redirect.
Especially i don’t see any htaccess rule that can do what i wrote in the previous message

/encanto-al-alma-el-abrazo/ start by ‘en’, I think that’s why WordPress does this redirection in this case.

Resolved. Was WP-Optimize plugin that put the following htaccess rule:

    #Disable ETag
    FileETag None

Thank you for the help and the patience!

    Hello,

I’m glad to see the problem has been solved. Thank you for your feedback. I’ll look into this problem with wp-optimize.

The links that point to the wrong URL when WordPress is installed in a subfolder will be fixed in the next update.

    Best regards,
