No service plugin rental

Wanted to like this plugin but after installing realized that cost is:
$99 per year for blogger on 1 site and mailpoet does not even send the email, it’s your servers that do. User has to provide own SMTP email service to use this plugin.

$249 a year for a freelancer, again user must provide own smtp service.

There are few major players in Newsletter business that for the same price will deliver your emails as well as provide subscriber management, stats and all bells and whistles.
This is just mind boggling that this cost is for just a plugin rental without SMTP email service.
