Your instructions for getting an API key fail for me at step 4.
I had an existing project with an API key. I chose that project.
I added the YouTube Data API v3.
I tried using my existing API key for Google Maps, where I had authorized my site by name and verified ownership, but received the warning from the plugin settings test that adding an authorized IP address 162.244… might help.
Rather than altering the restriction for the existing API key away from ‘HTTP referrer’, I proceeded with your instructions.
    You say
“In the sidebar on the left:
    Click on ‘Credentials’
Click on ‘Create new Key’ << https://www.dropbox.com/s/zvqtu7ct8r2jvzl/Capture.PNG?dl=0
There is no button for ‘Create new Key’.
There is a pulldown for ‘Create credential’ so I tried that.
    Click on ‘Server Key’ <<https://www.dropbox.com/s/t2zhg6gidfg41i9/Capture2.PNG?dl=0
There is no button for ‘Server Key’. There are 4 other choices. I investigated “Service account” but this leads into a dialog that I cannot answer.

I went through the help wizard, and got a message that I already have a credential suitable for this purpose. << https://www.dropbox.com/s/rgy33ycd8rwiczr/Capture3.PNG?dl=0

Perhaps you will update your instructions.

that’s the burden of having to describe something one does not own/ manage; it’s an ever-moving target ??

I think “api key” would have been the correct choice here.

    Thanks for the prompt response!

Got it working. Yes, new “API key” with an Application Restriction for IP addresses (web servers, cron jobs, etc.) seems obvious to me now! I somehow got fogged in, sorry. It’s very good of you to be so quick to update it.

I saw YouTube said, to prevent quota theft, I should enter my server’s IP address. I note your instructions say to leave that blank, or we can actually set restrictions to “None”. I guess you think the risk is minimal.

I think the risk indeed is minimal, but you can always experiment with the restrictions ??

feel free to leave a review of the plugin and support here! ??

    have a nice weekend!
