“Screen Options” and “Help” aren’t functional in Edit Page mode. I want to remove the commenting capability from some of the pages, but can’t get there. Any ideas? Screen Options works fine in other modes.

PS: This problem seems to have developed after in chose “one column” instead of the default “two column” in the Screen Options area (I misunderstood the function of the column option). I haven’t found a way to revert to the default two columns. Does anyone know how to do that?

    Many thanks.

Click on Discussion in screen options, then the option to remove commenting will show up below the wysiwyg editor

Thank you for your response, but the problem is that Screen Options doesn’t function in Edit Page mode. Neither does Help.

Both worked previously. The only thing that seems to be different is that in Screen Options I chose “one column” instead of the default “two columns.” (I did that thinking it might get rid of the Archive and Meta areas on the right of the pages; obviously, I was wrong about that.) After choosing “one column,” neither Screen Options nor Help display when selected.

When I hover over the Screen Options and Help buttons, I get the correct URL on the bottom left of the pages. My guess is that there is something about the one-column layout that doesn’t permit them to be displayed. That’s just a guess though. But since I can’t access Screen Options, I can’t reset Pages to two-column.

Again most sincere thanks for your kind response. Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

RESOLUTION: My wizard nephew took a look and determined that one of the Javascript libraries was broken. He installed a plugin to use the Google ajax libraries, and it works fine now.

What happens to people who don’t have a wizard nephew?

Screen Options is WP, I don’t think this issue is related to the theme.

Dear Mr. Smartcat: Thanks again for your interest. You’re right; the problem was a WordPress issue, not related to your theme.

    All the best, ??
