  • No. Is your htaccess file writable

I uninstalled it and reinstalled and the rules returned.

I’ve seen dozens of sites with varying suggestions on W3TC settings and I’ve experimented but can’t say if they’re the best settings. Its all a bit confusing. Can anyone point me to a site page with settings recommendations they’ve used successfully? I used shared hosting for years but recently upgraded to a managed VPS with KnownHost. There may be settings that weren’t available to shared hosting but I don’t realize it because I don’t have the experience.

And to expand on htaccess rules and w3tc, can anyone advise on the correct order of htaccess rules? I’ve added numerous hardening tips from sites like this one. I suspect my htaccess may be out of order and possibly inefficient. Should these hardening rules be before the default WordPress rules and the W3TC rules?

This is a question that is difficult to address because it involves your own server config and settings. So at the moment you might want to hire someone to set it up for you.
