No related posts.

I’m still experiencing the issue that related posts are not showing up for new posts that I write. I have been using b3 on my site.

I’d also like to throw in a new feature request. Is it somehow possible to set time limits, e.g. display only related posts of the last 12 months or so? I’m getting lots of old posts promoted as related posts even though they are not that useful as newer posts.

Still no related posts when using the widgets. I do not see Custom anymore but it’s using Example and is still not working.

@vrturir3e I don’t have any immediate ideas for why you’re not getting results. As always, I suggest you try lowering the match threshold first. As for the feature request, that already is a feature of YARPP. ?? Check the “recent” options in the “Pool” options box.

@manunkind what do you mean when you say “custom”? Do you mean custom templates?

Mitcho, I only get new related posts when I change the parameters in the options, e.g. from 4 to 3 and then back. The related post is then displayed on the site. If I do not do that, I get the no related posts message on the site.

@vrturir3e oh, so you touched the settings and it’s working now? What that does is clear the cache. Perhaps 3.4.x cached some bad “no related posts” results and continued displaying them. Glad it’s working for you now. ??

Thanks for your support. I have installed 3.4.3 and also activate the experiment. I am using the latest wordpress 3.3. I am still getting no related post. I am using custom template.
Pretty much all my articles has ‘No related Posts”

Mitcho, no, it is only working if I flush the cache. If I do not, related posts are not being displayed. Actually, they are displayed rarely. I have posted roughly 8 articles in the last two days, and only two showed related posts, while the remaining showed none at the beginning. They did show them though when I flushed the cache.

Ok I found a solution. I display the related posts listing in the editor window and press update until related posts show up. This takes between 2-4 tries usually.

I’m getting no related posts showing on new posts — but old ones are fine.

If I go in and edit the new post, though, then press ‘update’ without changing anything, related posts starts working.

So I’d say that the plugin is not generating related posts when a new post is added, but it it does fire properly on subsequent edits/updates.

@sam321 If you temporarily turn off your custom template, do you get results?

@vrturir3e it’s possible that there’s a plugin incompatibility. Could you post what other plugins you have active?

@mpclark that sounds like the issue that 3.4.3 resolved… are you on 3.4.3? Is this happening to posts which are brand new now?

I have deselected the custom template and use what ever is default and still no results coming out.
Your older version use to have few related post listed on the newer article now that I updated the latest, I have none.

Is there any other plugin affecting it? I am using Wp super cache.

Maybe that’s just me but i don’t see any setting regarding weighting and setup of yarpp? I’ve got the lastest version running on several blogs (standard and network installations) but all settings have gone and additionally on new posts i don’t get any related posts even there should be. I even don’t see the setting to reset the yarpp database.
