Hello, I sell downloadable products, so I don’t hesitate to create a customer account to be able to download them.

Registration is open to everyone. I checked the following boxes :

    • – Allow customers to login to an existing account during the payment process
    • – Allow customers to create an account on the “My Account” page
    • – When creating an account, automatically generate an identifier for the customer, based on their name or email address.
    • – When creating an account, automatically generate a password for the account.
    • “accounts and privacy” capture :

My problem is this: when the customer proceeds to checkout, they are prompted to login to an existing account, but they cannot register.

“request for login before payment, but no possibility of registration” capture?:

The box: “activate registration from the order page” is no longer available on the current version of Woocommerce.

My future customers are blocked in the purchase process, they have to connect to an account that does not exist or try to find the page “my account”, to create an account, and then go back to checkout.

At the bottom of the page it says “You are invited to log in to access the shopping cart.” But no possibility to register.

I want the user path to be as simple as possible.

product choice -> validation of the cart -> registration -> payment of the order.

      Links
      Shopping cart page
      Payment page

I just ask to be able to add a registration for the customer, not just a possibility to log in. I do not want a guest order.

I cannot authorize orders without an account, because in order to be able to download his product several times, the customer needs an account.

Awaiting your feedback, I wish you a wonderful day, cordially.

  • Hi!

I can see from the first screenshot you gave that you don’t have the box ticked that says

“Autoriser les clients à créer un compte au cours de la validation de commande”.

This option will allow customers to create their account during the order process.

If I understand you correctly, when you said “when the customer proceeds to checkout, they are prompted to login to an existing account, but they cannot register”, it’s this option that you need.

Here’s our documentation on this configuration: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-woocommerce-settings/#accounts-and-privacy-settings

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have other questions.

Hello, thank you for your return. It worked, only, I didn’t understand that the account was created after the payment of the product. I thought that the customer should create his account before the payment was made.

Thank you for your assistance. Now I have one last question:

How can I customize the “payment” page to indicate to my customers that an account will be created during the payment process.

I would like to add a text below the space where it is proposed to log in. I want to be in total transparency with my customers. If I respect them, they will respect me.

    Have a great day, cordially.

Hello again! I am glad that my response helped you.

In answer to customising the payment page, there is some guidance in this blog post, including plugin recommendations and code snippets.

One plugin you could use is Checkout Field Editor.

You can include any content on the default checkout page, as the functionality itself is controlled by the shortcode.

You could maybe also consider using the extension One Page Checkout.

I’m glad to have been of help here. I’m going to mark this as resolved for now – if you have any further questions, please feel free to start a new thread.
