We are going through the process of re-authenticating all our woocommerce stores to continue using Stripe after October 29th. Most stores are able to complete the process but some websites do not show the “re-authenticate” button and no matter what we try the button is not available.

The set up is: WordPress 6.6.2 – Woocommerce 9.3.3 – Woocommerce Stripe Gateway 8.8.0

We have already tried: clear cache / remove + fresh install stripe plugin (including Stripe empty database) / switch themes / link to new stripe account but nothing works. There are no updates for these plugins available but the re-authenticate button from the article “Updated requirements for Stripe plugin, mid-2024” is not showing.

Please see the attached screenshot, our backend has a green color but the settings page for Stripe is still showing the old webhook-view. We do not have the re-authenticae button available. Below all the green boxes you can see the Dutch text, which translates to something as: “There are no live webhooks received since the check started at 2024-10-26 13:12:28 UTC” renew

Could you please help us? We need to have iDeal available for our customers and are afraid this might not be available after the 29th deadline

    Hi @cdsigns ,

I understand that you’re going through with the missing “re-authenticate” option for Stripe and the urgency. Let’s try a couple of things step-by-step.

First, ensure your Stripe account is in good standing and there are no issues on that side. Sometimes, payment gateways can behave unexpectedly due to account-level alerts or restrictions.

Next, even though you’ve done a fresh install, try to force refresh the connection settings for the Stripe plugin. To do that, go to your WordPress Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Payments, click on “Stripe”, and scroll to the bottom to find “Payment Request Button Settings.” In that section, disable the “Payment Request Buttons” (like Apple Pay/Google Pay), save your changes, and then re-enable them to force a settings refresh.

If that doesn’t help, it could be due to a deeper integration issue. At times, custom snippets or other plugins can interfere with the Stripe plugin’s expected behavior. Double-check if there are any such snippets or plugins, and if possible, test by deactivating other plugins except for WooCommerce and Stripe to see if the button appears.

If none of these steps work, we may need to take a closer look at your site’s build, you can share a copy of your site’s System Status Report by going to WooCommerce → Status, then selecting “Get system report” and clicking “Copy for Support.”

Once you’ve done that, you can paste the text in here using the “<code>” block. Looking forward to getting this sorted out.

    Hi there @reynierc ,

Thank you so much for your detailed and quick reply. I have updated the payment buttons to force a refresh of the settings but I still do not see the “Re-authenticate” button. Already did try to do a clean “connection” to a different stripe account we have. That account has been receiving iDeal payments for months from other websites so there is no issue there.

Still no button but my colleague who is out of office also tried some things. So now I’m also wondering how I will be able to see if a site is succesfully “re-authenticated”. Because I noticed from the sites that dit work that the button/section will disappear so how can I see if a site has successfully been re-authenticated?

    Hello mellow1,

Thank you for trying the troubleshooting steps.

To confirm, have you followed the steps outlined here?

Since you mentioned that a colleague may have unauthenticated the sites, it would be a good idea to contact Stripe to confirm whether they’ve been re-authenticated using OAuth.

In the meantime, please share the System Status Report for the affected sites.
They might provide some clues about what is happening.

Looking forward to your response. ??

    Hi there,

Yes we used the steps from the article you linked but the button as seen in the screenshot there just does not show. We reached out to Stripe first but the support agent we had in the chat told us that there is no way of seeing anything regarding the status of re-authentication on their end, neither would it be possible to see this status somewhere in our Stripe profile.

    Hi @cdsigns ,

Thanks for giving that a try and sharing the results with us.

Sometimes plugin or theme conflicts can hide options, so it’s a good idea to try disabling other plugins or switching to a default theme briefly to check if the re-authenticate button reappears. If you’ve done this and it’s still not showing, we might need to take a closer look.

Please send us the system status reports of the affected sites from WooCommerce → Status so we can dive deeper. Hoping to help you get to the bottom of this.
