• Hello. I am in the process of using WordPress’s built-in export tool to export part of my WP Blog so I can import the data into a new version of my blog.

It has been running for close to an hour now — at least I assume it is still running — and the only way I can tell how far along it is, is by looking at the .xml and.xml.part files in my downloads folder.

In short, I have no idea how far along the export actually is, or what percentage still remains to be exported.

Would it be possible to add a progress bar to the export tool?

    Thanks so much!

Thank you for responding. However, the first link has absolutely nothing to do with my question. I did NOT ask about a progress bar for while reading a WP post. I asked about a progress bar for when we are importing or exporting data using WordPress’s built-in import and export functions.

Likewise, the second link does not help either. It merely sends me to another page to purchase an import/export plugin for $26.00. Again, that is NOT what I am looking for.

Your avatar looked a little suspicious, as if suggesting that you are actually a bot. So I clicked on your name, and discovered that you supposedly joined this forum just today.

Indeed, you seem like a bot to me.

STOP! Don’t name call. That’s the default avatar for people who do not set their Gravatar account. Do not read into someone’s intentions based on something like that. The user is not a bot and yes, I know of what I speak.

Also while the second link is sort of, ish about what you are asking, I’ve redacted it. It’s in the right direction but off a little.

Sorry, Jan, but in this day and age of hackers, scammers, phishers, clickbait, impersonators, automated answering services in so many online support forums, etc., can you really blame me for being a little suspicious?

From my perspective, I was not really name-calling — which I would never intentionally do anyway — because I concluded that this was not a real person. Thus, I was not addressing it as a real person, but rather as the bot I assumed it to be.

I was not aware of the fact that that is the default icon for forum users who don’t have a gravatar avatar. In conjunction with the fact that this person joined the forum only hours ago, has not started any posts yet, yet has already answered six of them, has an unusual bot-looking avatar, and directed me to a page to purchase a plugin, I decided that it was one of two things:

    1. An unscrupulous developer who had figured out a way to set up a bot in these forums in order to direct users to his commercial plugin.

    2. A forum bot designed by WP to provide automated answers to forum visitors.

So you say that I am wrong. Alright. So I apologize for my mistake. I’m only human, and with years online, a very cautious one at that.

But could you answer my original question, being as it still remains unanswered? ??

    Thank you.
