    Hi Everyone

I am using UM and currently have an issue with a particular email category. When a user registers, both the user and the admin receives a completed registration form. I can see this in the Post SMTP logs and also in the Office 365 mailbox being used to send the emails.

Password reset update emails also work and notify the end user and the site admin.

However, if the end user logs back into their account and makes a change, they don’t receive any email. (“Account Updated Email is enabled’) No email is triggered to route through Post SMTP and it also does not show in the Office 365 mailbox.

As this is a member only email rule and the recipients cannot be amended, I installed the Plugin from Miss Veronica which allows the admin to receive a copy of the account updated email. (“https://github.com/MissVeronica/um-admin-user-profile-update-email”) As we need to know when a user updates their profile (due to certain health and safety guidelines).

The user then logs back into their profile, makes a change and clicks save. They do not receive an email however I as the admin now receive a copy of their updated profile. Whilst the plug-in ticks our immediate requirement, there still seems to be a problem with the account updated email which gets sent to the end user.

I have disabled/re-enabled the email type and deleted and recreated the user but I still cannot get UM to send the account updated email to the end user. – could anyone suggest any fixes?

    I am using UM 2.8.3

    Many thanks!

Whether to send the user an email when he updated their account

This email is sent when the Account page is updated
and not when the Profile page is updated.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I see, that’s a shame. So UM classes ‘account updates’ as top tier updates to the physical login account and not related to any other amendment related to their account.

The user receives a profile email once the registration form has been completed, just no further updates if that form is ever amended. Your script initially will help us with governance, but it would be useful if the end user received an update to warn/advise that their profile was amended or they could come back at us and say that it wasn’t them that made the changes or that they were unaware etc.

    Thanks!

Will an option to add a CC: to the Profile owner for the current Admin email solve your issue?

    Hi @missveronicatv

If I understand that correctly, then yes that would solve the issue as the end user profile thats being amended will receive an email advising them that it has been modified (either by them or us) allowing them to report it if it was a mistake etc.

    Thanks!

An update of the “Admin User Profile Update Email” plugin version 4.7.0
with an addition of the option for a CC: email to the User address
    is ready for download.

    No way! – that’s awesome!

That works exactly how I imagined. So anyone else reading, basically if you add the above plug-in to WordPress and enable it, you will see “Profile is updated email’ template in UM > Settings > Emails.

If you tick option: “Admin Email Profile Update – CC: email to User” the admin and the end user will receive a copy of the updated form when it is amended by anybody.

This is great because this helps with compliance.

    Thanks @missveronicatv
