    I have ssh sftp updater support installed on a fresh install of wordpress 3.0.5 on Ubuntu 11.04. I have the updater installed and activated. I have port 22 open on my system and can SSH and SFTP into and out of with no problems. However, when I try to update a plugin using the updater, it shows the radio button for SSH and I can paste in my private key. Yet, a PROCEED button will not appear. A PROCEED button will not appear for any of the choices FTP, FTP(SSL), or SSH.

    I have tried setting the FTP_PUBKEY variables in the configuration file. They do try to contact the SSH server, but get a “server cannot be contacted error”. Any help is appreciated. I do not wish to set up an FTP server. It is difficult at best to do on Ubuntu.

    Thanks,

    Here’s the line that should be making it appear:

    submit_button( __( 'Proceed' ), 'button', 'upgrade' );

    Could you maybe post the contents of your wp-admin/includes/file.php file? The latest version of WordPress is 3.4.2 – I don’t have an available 3.0.5 installation.

    Thanks!

    That line appears near the end of sftp.php just as you typed it. According to the Codex, it’s supposed to call a function in templates.php in the wp-admin/includes folder. I searched that file for the function but it’s not listed there.

    I have pasted my file.php below. I am a stickler about loading software from the repositories if I can at all do so. With this exception, the 3.0.5 in the Ubuntu repositories works just fine. I’ve tried to set up an FTP server on Ubuntu before. I haven’t been able to do so and have WordPress interact with it.

    I can try a manual install of 3.4.2, but I usually tend to botch those somehow. Thanks for the help.
