• It seems that the famous 5-steps install is not working for me at all since there’s 3 days already looking through the forum and trying to make WP work.

    My host is running
    PHP 4.3.9RC1
    MySQL 3.23.49
    Apache server

After install, everything goes just fine, exept that i cannot see, or access my plugins and my themes in the administration panels.

On plugins tab I see the “Couldn’t open plugins directory or there are no plugins available.” message.

On Presentation tab, I cannot see any themes listed, getting this message:

    “Current Theme
    by
The active theme is WordPress Default. The template files are located in . The stylesheet files are located in .”

I DID downloaded several plugins and themes and uploaded them via ftp in wp-content/plugins and wp-content/themes folders accordingly (so there are files in those folders).

I checked for zero filesize files. I chmod all files and folders to 777, and still no luck.

It might be a host issue but as I am not getting any server error at all, I don’t even know what to ask for to my hosting provider.

Any ideas are very vert much appreciated, sine I’m on a verge to get nuts! Thank you in advance

  • Is this the blog under your name here? The URI gives me a 404 error.

well i’m actually testing it here now https://www.arcat.ro/websites/wp/

i’m still looking into my phpinfo file and it seems some of the php functions (like read do’oh) are disabled, which probably cause all the pain i’m in. RDS reaaaaly sucks on hosting (and not only), it’s probably time to move on another host.

That was my first thought, too. When something works out of the box for thousands of users but in one place… it has to be something with the host’s “special” settings.
    Noroc ??i voie bun?? ??
