I seem to be missing the Plugins -> Editor admin screen. I only see Plugins -> Installed Plugins. I am the admin so am I missing other options because my Multisite dashboard isn’t set up correctly?

  • Hey there!

It sounds like you are looking at the plugin menu on the main site in the network (or a subsite). In order to see the “editor” menu, you will have to navigate to the Network Admin dashboard (Hover over “My Sites” and then click on Network Admin)

Or just go here directly: YOURDOMAIN.com/wp-admin/network/plugin-editor.php

    Hope this helps!

To put it another way, per-site admins cannot edit plugins or themes. Only the network admin, when logged in to the network admin panels, can do that.

I AM the admin and I am choosing Network Admin I just don’t see any edit plugin option from the plugins option on the network admin dashboard

    https://patbell.co.uk/wp-admin/network/plugins.php

Just shows me Installed Plugins and Add New.

Is the editor disabled in your wp-config.php file?

I can’t see any line relating to the plugin editor, perhaps I need to ENABLE it? What the code syntax for that?

    No, it’s enabled by default.

What plugins are network active? What theme is your MAIN site using?

By main site do you mean my domain root… patbell.co.uk? Cos thats now using TwentyTwelve

Main site == where was WP originally installed? ??

Okay, if you’re using TwentyTwelve there then you hgave to do a scary thing ??

rename the plugins folder to plugins-off

    Thread Starter patbell101

    (@patbell101)

Nope – that just disables all my plugins and still fails to give me a plugin editor menu option.

I have swapped around the theme for patbell.co.uk but it was originally on twentytwelve and is now back there.

I don’t see how renaming my plugins folder can do anything but disable all my plugins – must I reinstall them all?

I renamed the folder back to plugins and then, having got my plugins back albeit deactivated… had to reactivate all my used plugins. I now have a editor option!

    Thanks Mika (Ipstenu)

So one of your plugins magically broke it. Which is why we suggest doing that. I know it sucks, but it’s sometimes the only way to kick things ??
