I am unable to install fonts with this plugin Version 1.8.0. Any font. Google or local. WP 6.2

Error: You do not have sufficient permission to edit the theme.

I have created a blank theme, I have tried twentytwentythree. I have changed the permissions on my web server allow everyone to read, write and execute.

I don’t see any other topics mentioning this. Should I just upload them myself and edit the .json?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • This issue also occurs on my siteground site. I think it has something to do with their staging site setup. Please update the thread if you found any solution.

I found the solution to the font installation problem. It was caused by the SG Security plugin that Siteground installs to protect the theme files from unauthorized changes. I just had to disable it and then I could install any font I wanted. Google or local. WP 6.2

Siteground has an amazing support team specially Dimitar P. that helped me figure this out. They are very responsive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Siteground for anyone looking for a reliable and secure web hosting service.

Hi @rakhsh, thanks for reporting the solution you found.

Hi, @btollewp have you solved the problem too?

@rakhsh thank you! SG security was indeed causing the error.

However, Create Block Theme will still not recognize the theme.json file in the child theme. The theme.json was updated by the plugin, it correctly lists the fonts, but they are not visible in Manage Theme Fonts.

I have disabled ALL the plugins on the staging server, leaving CBT as the only active plugin. No modifications I make to the child theme.json are reflected in the site, not just the fonts.

Not sure what caused the issue. I uninstalled twenty twenty-three, deleted the child, and started from scratch. And now it seems to be working correctly. I can see my custom fonts, and theme.json changes are reflected on the site.
