• Hi there,

I have just created a password protected page for some audios I have on my site, but when I try to go to that page, I am not seeing a prompt to enter the password.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks for any help.

    Sandra

  • Did you logout first?

Yes. And cleared my cache and cookies, etc.

Just have to ask the obvious questions first. After you enter the password does it say protected next to the title in the manage pages screen.

    yes.

I am wondering if there is a glitch because I want the page to be both password protected and private. I should be able to have both, yes?

Yes I can confirm there is a bug. Just to clarify for a bug report why would you want to have it both protected and private. Essentially making it private is protecting it as you have to be logged in to view the page anyway.

The page I am wanting to make protected and private offers free audios to members of my personal network. I offer people the option of either donating via PayPal or receiving free audios if they’re part of my network. This is set up on two separate pages on my blog, and I want both to be private since I don’t want to advertise “free audios” on my home page, as well as changing the password on a regular basis so that there’s some measure of security on the page.

Makes sense. I’m going to see if there has been any bug reports about this.

I’ve submitted this as a bug you can see progress here.

One other thing I’m noticing is that even if I take the password protection off but leave the page as private, the text is not showing. How weird is that??!!

I think after further research that it might be related to this ticket. What do you think?

One thing to try is change the password and see if it prompts for the password then.

    Last things first:

Tried changing the password, logging out of admin and then going to the download page. Got the following message:

    Not Found

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.

Regarding the ticket you referred me to, I’m not sure — although I would like to be able to have the log-out option. Frankly, I’m not even sure if the referenced patch will work in 2.3.

I think I understand now how the pluggable.php might help, but I’m not sure if it should be uploaded as a separate file into my theme or if it is meant to be part of the functions.php.

    Please advise.
