    Hi,

Thanks for a great plugin ??

I’ve created the welcome e-mail below but only user_firstname is shown in the actual e-mail to the new user; password_url is not.

    Any ideas?

    Hi [user_firstname]

    This is a test ??

    [password_url]

    Was there a URL?

    Hi rassom,
    Thanks for your message.

If you take a look at the list of shortcodes for the ‘New User – Welcome Email’ notification, you’ll see that you can only use the user shortcodes for this notification. This is because WordPress only allows you to get the password URL twice – once when you’ve lost your password and once when you’ve signed-up.

In order to do what you want to do, you’ll need to edit the ‘New User Registration (For User)’ notification.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks very much.

What I want to achieve is for me to add a new user, then send him a welcome e-mail in my own wording (not that of WordPress) including a link where he can set his password.

Am I right that’s not possible? Because that would be the “for admin” e-mail as I assume the “for user” e-mail is only used if he signs up himself?

    Thanks,
    Rasmus

    Hi Rasmus,
    No, that’s entirely possible!

Just use the ‘New User Registration (For User)’ notification. When a new user registers (no matter if you registered them or they registered themselves), two notifications will be fired – ‘New User Registration (For User)’ and ‘New User Registration (For Admin)’.

If you customise the ‘New User Registration (For User)’ notification, this should do what you’re after. Another thread opened today on these forums is suggesting that this notification might be broken however due to a recent update to WordPress.

I’ve closed this thread but try it and see if it works for you and if not, keep you eye on this thread for updates.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks!

It doesn’t work so I must be having the same problem in the other thread. Will be keeping an eye on it.

    Appreciate your help! ??

    Best,
    Rasmus
