I am VERY new at WordPress and I’m sure this will not be my first question. I am trying to create a parent page but there is no drop down menu in the page attributes sub-panel. It doesn’t matter what theme I use, it’s never there. What am I doing wrong? I’ll also say this – I don’t know anything about html code, so if you respond to this could you please put it in very simple terms? Thanks so much!

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I have tried all except resetting the plugins folder. I have wordpress through mydaddy.com and I don’t know how to reset the plugins from there.

Please see the link I have above.

I’ve tried all these things and the menu is still not there. I have even deleted plugins that I recently installed. Any other thoughts?

Why exactly are you trying to use a dropdown to create a parent page?

I’m trying to use the dropdown menu to create pages within the parent page. Sorry, I explained that wrong.

So you don’t have a Parent dropdown? If so, try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
