    Whenever a customer places an order in our shop, the payment times out and the money does not go through. We use PayPal Standard.

    The error message on the back end of our orders reads like this:

    Unpaid order cancelled – time limit reached. Order status changed from Pending payment to Cancelled.

    We’ve tried everything to fix this. Nothing works.

  • Have you checked your paypal account? I just tested this and I was able to get to paypal to login. If that is the cause and orders are not coming back to the site, you would need to check server settings to make sure information is getting sent back from paypal.

    It’s weird. I think the problem happens once you actually submit payment. When you say, “check server settings,” what do you mean? Which server? Ours, or PayPal’s?

    Server where your site is hosted. If WooCommerce is sending them to PayPal but the information is not getting from PayPal to the site. There is something there stopping it. This could be anything from firewalls, server settings etc.

    I’ve seen a mix of iThemes and Wordfence stop/block payments from coming back to the site.

    Hi there,

    If the customer is being sent to PayPal and they making the payment but it’s not showing in WooCommerce, it’s most likely an IPN issue where the payment information isn’t posting back to your site. You can make sure that the IPN is set up correctly as outlined here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/#section-6
