No notification or acknowledgement of new subscribers

Two friends subscribed for my email updates yesterday but Mailchimp only reports 3 subscribers, none of which are said two friends.
Note: There is also a red asterisk next to “email” on the Mailchimp settings page within WordPress.
Help?
