• The plugin finally decided to start publishing to my timeline, which is quite welcome, but there’s no meta description about the article. My image, post title, and author all go to my timeline, but there’s no article content at all. I would assume it would either take the first few sentences, or maybe go with the meta description I entered into WordPress SEO by Yoast, but there’s no description at all.

I believe people are much less likely to click on a link if there isn’t a teaser description of the article. Does anyone know how to ensure that a description is coming through? I see on the screenshots that the articles do have a description.

What happens when you pass the same URL to the Facebook URL debugger?

    I get two different messages:

    Like Button
    Link Button Tag Missing:
og:image is missing. The og:image meta tag is necessary for Facebook to render a News Feed story that generates a high click-through rate.

    Open Graph
    Inferred Property:
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

I would gladly fix those, if I had the slightest idea where to start. Google searches on the topic haven’t been very fruitful.

You seem to be mainly concerned with the description, not the image, and therefore might want to focus on the og:description output from the Facebook URL debugger.

See Customize Open Graph protocol pinned support topic for more information about adding a site logo or other image as an og:image fallback. The Facebook plugin for WordPress will attempt to convert your post’s featured image or galleries to explicit og:image elements if a featured image or gallery is present.

It posts my image just fine, so I don’t really understand the error. I don”t see anything in the sticky post that applies to my issue. They’re talking about images in that as well.
First of all, is social publisher supposed to post a teaser description or not? If it’s already working properly, I can accept that it doesn’t work exactly how I want it to, and I’ll invest some time figuring out how to modify the code a little bit later, but if there’s something not working properly, I would like to fix it now.

When I run it through the debugger, it shows a brief description next to the description tag, but when the post goes to Facebook, there isn’t one.
