It has two months since I installed hcaptcha for a client, and they have not received a single lead form since. In the two months prior they received 10 legitimate lead forms from real customers. They also received nine spam forms. I tested the lead form a week ago and it came through fine. Which tells me it is working, but that hcaptcha is either discouraging form fills or even worse blocking them so we never get them.

I went into my plugins folder in cpanel and don’t see the hcaptcha plugin, but see all the other plugins.

I don’t know what is going on, but i’m going back to recaptcha, to see if we start getting lead forms again.

So far hcaptcha is a 95% bust. I’ll give it 5% nice that it potentially blocked 9 spam forms, but what is the point if it blocks everything else.

Hoping this wasn’t the absolute worst case scerario. Because my test lead form actually said the form was sent successfully as well. A false positive for customers is still a possibility, where they are told it was successfully sent, but wasn’t.

“I tested the lead form a week ago and it came through fine. Which tells me it is working”. So I have no idea how we can help in this situation.

“I went into my plugins folder in cpanel and don’t see the hcaptcha plugin, but see all the other plugins.” – looks absolutely weird.

You should add some logging on the site or investigate access.log files to understand that form is really reached by somebody.

Client got legitimate lead form today. The very day after I turned off hcaptcha.

hcaptcha may have realistically cost my client tens of thousands of dollars over the last two months.

Great! But next time don’t embed or attempt to embed a link. I archived your review. Feel free to submit a new one without reference to this topic. Use your words instead.

The link was to this support topic, because the backstory to the review makes the review far more helpful. The link was also deleted, because there was an error. I didn’t think it would be rejected at first, and doesn’t make sense to reject it now that the link was deleted.

Are you saying even though there was no link, I still have to resubmit a review?

The WP review software clearly told me that, so I deleted it. Yet the review was still rejected.

Ball is in Wp.org’s court now on whether they want to fix the glitch. Thank you
