Hi. For whatever reason, I ended up letting the original domain of my MU installation expire. Somebody else seems to have snatched it up, so I probably will not have access to it any time soon. I have a number of other sites running off of the same installation through the domain mapping plugin. All of these sites are still working, but I’m unable to access the administrative panel since the original “base” domain no longer exists.
E.g., I can get to xyz.com, but when I try to access the administrator area (which redirects to xyz.original.com/wp-admin) I am stuck at my friend’s landing page since original.com is no longer in my possession.

Is there anything I can edit to fix this without simply dumping my extant sites’ DBs, reinstalling WordPress, and then restoring them?

    Thank you for reading.

    Yes!

    1) Get a new master domain.

    2) make sure that master domain points to where original.com is

    3) Get https://github.com/interconnectit/Search-Replace-DB and search/replace original.com with newmaster.com

3.5) Make sure to update your wp-config.php to use that domain too if needed!

    4) Drink beer and celebrate ??

    Thank you! You’re a lifesaver.

In case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future with a similar issue: I had to run Search-Replace once to replace original.com with xyz.com, then a second time to replace xyz.xyz.com with xyz.com. After that, everything worked.
