• I have disabled and re-installed Yoast, the no-index tags will not resolve with Google for some reason. Bing has no problem. They only appear in the sitemaps (as usual) but for some reason I can not submit the sitemap to GSC.

I am using Sucuri as a scanner and Wordfence as a firewall for reference. Never had any issue between the plugins and Yoast until now.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

We would like some more information.

    1. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    2. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.0.3? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    3. Is the issue that there is a noindex tag on the sitemaps listed here: https://dizzie.org/sitemap_index.xml and you believe that is why the sitemaps are unable to be submitted to Google?

If so, what is Google saying about them? Can you describe it or take a screenshot and then share the url with us? You can use a tool like: https://pasteboard.co/.

    1. Yes, all plugins are completely updated and all known caches are cleared.

    2. Yes, the WordPress version is fully up to date and version 5.0.3

    3. Old search console reports that their are no problems. New SC says it can’t be read, as far as I know, the no-index tags are necessary, but Google still refuses to accept the sitemaps. I’m trying to see what the issue is or if this is a bug on Google’s side.

Here are screenshots of the report.

Edit: Actually, it’s definitely the header tags. I have another site that uses Yoast and the tags do not appear on the index page there. The sitemaps and SEO runs perfectly for it. How would I go about removing them? Keep in mind, I have limited server access (nginx, etc.)

Update: Sucks, I feel like a child, but I had my host erase the robots config so I could make a new one. Will update when/if fixed.

So, for some reason, Google will not accept the sitemap. All SC says is to remove X-Robots-Tag: noindex, follow from the sitemap. If I am correct, that is necessary to prevent the sitemap from showing up in search results. However, for my other website that has the exact same tags, SC doesn’t show them under the URL inspection and flings no errors. Am trying to add some rules to robots.txt to override the header tags. Do any of you know some?

Here’s a screenshot of the website using Yoast with the accepted sitemap_index.xml

I have the same issue. Google says my tags are marked no-index. In Yoast I have them marked as Yes to show in search.

The sitemap has magically corrected itself. Not sure if it was because I generated a robots.txt, or a plugin change, or a Google fix.

@cdizzie Thanks! Now i know i must just wait, i’ve been pulling my hairs for weeks.
Google new search console is just bugged. That couldn’t fetch message is a lie.
Indeed it’s just Pending. But it can take months to show up properly.
Key is don’t resubmit and wait.
