    Hi,

I have a problem with the indexing of some of my product categorys.

I have set rankmath to index my product category (some are ok).

But for some categories, in the settings of the page (rankmath section), I checked index (the url appears well in my sitemap) but when I look at the page in live view, I move my mouse on top bar on the option “Rank Math SEO > Modify the page” I see that “As noindex” is checked… and in the search console google tells me that this page is in noindex.

I purged the cache, restarted my server, updated rankmath, and the problem persists…

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hello @yohanecom,

Thank you for reaching out to our support.

Can you please share the affected URL with us so we can further check it on our end?

Also, please make sure that you haven’t modified the category page individually, as you might have set it to noindex in the SEO settings in the editor, as this will override the settings you made in the Titles & Meta settings.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your answer,

I found the origin of my problem:

It is the categories in which there are no products.
As soon as I add a product to the category, the noindex disappears and the page is well indexed by google.

I thought it was possible to index categories as soon as there was a description text to add, but no it is necessary to add at least 1 product

    Hello @yohanecom,

By default, Rank Math sets the empty category/tag archive pages to noindex. However, you can disable that option in Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Global Meta > Noindex Empty Category and Tag Archives.

Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/#noindex-empty-category-and-tag-archives

    Hope that helps.
