    hello,

    We have a copy of our website for testing purpose. i don’t want the testing site to be indexed/shown in google.

    Editting all the pages is no option because i restore te production site to the testing site monthly. (and i add a user testuser with admin rights)

    is there a easy way to do this within the yoast plugin?

    production site: topzorggroenveld.nl
    test site: stage.topzorggroenveld.nu

    many thanks in advanced.
    Jeroen

    Hello @jbergen,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    You can set the entire test site to not be crawled or indexed by search engines. In WordPress admin, navigate to Settings > Reading > Search engine visibility and check the box to ‘Discourage search engines from indexing this site’. Though it is up to search engines to honour this request.

    thanks for the fast reply,
    i checked the box.
    the sitemap.xml is still generated.
    should this also be turned off?

    @jbergen,

    You can also disable the Yoast SEO XML Sitemap feature in WordPress dashboard > SEO > General > Features > XML Sitemaps and ‘Save Changes’.
