I’ve upgraded my blog to 2.6 and now do not have any way to upload images at all. There’s nothing there and if I didn’t have the advanced tiny mce plug in, I wouldn’t even be able to do the more clunky load to my website, then pull in from there through its image button.

I’ve followed all the instructions in the now closed thread but the issue persists.

    Thanks!

    Margaret

  • You don’t see the Add Media: Image button?

Have you tried multiple browsers and deleting the temp files + cache?

No, there are no add media buttons since I upgraded (they were there for 2.5)

I used the Automatic Upgrade plug in and followed all the instructions there, read the forum posting about the bad behavior plugin interfering with it, upgraded that, didn’t work, then disabled it, didn’t work, uploaded the php fix — didn’t work.

I use FF 3.0, but have not tried in any other browser.

I will try deleting temp files and cache.

    Thanks!

Ok — cleared cache no effect

    tried in IE7 no effect

there are no upload media buttons at all.

Do you recommend I delete the install and try again?

    Thanks!

I’m not sure what could have caused this other than a plugin telling the button not to load.

I have not followed possible solutions in other threads but yes I think a clean install would be the best course of action.

Ok — I’ve resolved this for now. I deactivated all plug ins except for askimet, then checked to see if the media tools were present (they were), then reactivated plugins one at a time.

When I initially activated them, I just checked all the ones I wanted active and clicked the activate all button. Evidently WP didn’t really like that and the missing media upload icons were the result because I’ve reactivated every single plug in I had active before and no single plugin activation caused a repeat of the issue.

Thanks Ziyphr for your help — I do appreciate it and don’t think you guys get a thank you often enough.

Another reason for not seeing the upload icons is if you are using the userContent.css file from floppymoose.com to block ads.

This rule on line 15 will hide the upload links:
    A:link[HREF*="ad."] IMG,

To fix the problem replace line 98:
    A:link[HREF*="load."],
    with
    A:link[HREF*="load."] IMG,

Great. Thanks for that tip. Slipped my mind that I was even using it. Now my missing / invisible upload media icons are right where they should be. On screen. Thanks again.
