No hope of logging in?!

  • Hi, I have relied on the auto fill to log in in the past, but now I am trying to log in to my site and can’t remember the user name, or password, and to top it off the back up email that is registered has now expired and been replaced with a new one.

    I really need to edit the content of my site as it has a shop which I need to close!! Any ideas on how I can possibly gain access without deleting the entire content of the site from the server?

    do you have access the database connected to your website?
    (depending on your hosting company, it might be available via cPAnel)

    I’m not sure! I may just pull the plug and start fresh, I’m not bad IT wise but anything to do with hosting etc just throws me!

    If you prefer to pull the plug and start fresh that is an option.

    If you no longer have access to your original email, the only two options you have are to go into the mysql database and clear out the password field in the wp_users table for your account. This would allow you to log in without a password at all. The only other option you have is to scrap the site but that seems a little extreme. Contentiskey is correct in her assessment.
