no gallery options 3.8.1

Just upgraded to 3.8.1 and no longer able to select a gallery type when using the insert media / create gallery.

I have turned off all my plugins to no avail as well as doing a manual and automatic reinstall of 3.8.1

Has anybody else had the same issue?
