No folder system in Media Library?

  • Why is there no folder system in the WordPress Media Library?

    I dont want to use a plugin that merely “organises” files because when I need to add images into a slider that I use it pulls up the default WordPress Media Library anyway with no directories.

    Each month I add 1,000 images so having a monthly folder doesn’t work. I need more folders.

    Please help?

    I use the huge IT slider because it was already extensively used when I took over the client’s website and continued to use it.

    The main concern is the nonexistent folder system within the media library. I don’t understand why WordPress isn’t making that a standard feature.

    I created a folder inside of wp-content/uploads (via FTP) expecting it to show up in the Media Library’s drop-down menu but it doesn’t – only the months are listed.

    Is it just the way WordPress is? Or is there something I’m missing?!
