    Hello!
I find your plugin very interesting and I already use it to assign categories and keywords to my photos.
I discovered the function of registration of IPTC metadata, but I don’t understand English and I can not configure the plugin.
Could you add the language files .po and .mo so I can ask for help with the translation?
    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your kind words and for your interest in the plugin.

I regret that I have not had the time to properly “internationalize” the plugin yet and I do not have .po and .mo files to share with you.

I would be happy to help you with your IPTC metadata configuration, though. The IPTC and EXIF metadata is added to JPG and TIFF images by photo editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe LightRoom. The data available when you upload an image to your Media Library depends on how you use the photo editing software to enter the data.

Can you tell me more about how your images are prepared and what data you would like to add to your Media Library items? Are any of the images available on a public web site so I can look at them and see what they contain?

I will help you in any way I can. Please let me know how you would like to continue the dialog.

Thanks again for your interest and for your understanding.

    David

Hello David. Is this still the situation? If so, It would be so cool, if you could update your plugin to support internationalizing by wrapping strings with __().

Great plugin. I hope you will continue developing it.

Another hope: Ass column for category into the library view and if possible, give user the possibility to rename the media category as the wish. These would make it even more amazing ??

Thanks for the good words and these suggestions.

I am still planning to support internationalization, but it’s a significant effort and I have to balance it with adding the other functions (like the [mla_tag_cloud]) that people are requesting. I think it will take 40 – 50 hours for the work, which is about what I spend on each new release. I’m going to leave this topic unresolved until I have better news.

With regard to your other hope, I want to make sure I understand your suggestion. When you say “media category“, is that the “Att. Categories”/attachment_category taxonomy provided by MLA? You want to 1) add it as a column in the WordPress Media/Library screen, and 2) allow the user to give it another name? Is that right?

If you’re interested in adding this column to the WordPress Media/Library screen, I’d be interested to know why you use that screen instead of the Media/Assistant screen? Is there something I might add to the Media/Assistant screen instead?

Thanks for your interest, your suggestions and for any more details you can share.

I have begun the localization process required to support internationalization. If you can help prepare “.po” files for languages other than English, please send me your e-mail address from the “Contact Us” page at our web site:

I have completed the internationalization work and am doing my final testing before releasing it. If you can help prepare “.po” files for languages other than English, please send me your e-mail address using the link in my earlier post. Thank you!

    Hello David,

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been super busy.

Now when I’ve had some time to think my question and your answers, I found out that the assistant screen does pretty much what I was asking for. I guess I wasn’t thinking this through earlier. So..

    1) add it as a column in the WordPress Media/Library screen, and 2) allow the user to give it another name? Is that right?

    1. I think I was blind. You already have this feature in your plugins “assistant screen”.
    2. Yes, I would like to rename / use different taxonomy name for the attachment category. Att. Category is a bit tricky to understand, if you are not a native English speaker or you don’t know what “Att.” shortening means. Just a bit confusing for our users, not a big thing though. I would prefer to use something like “media categories”.

If you’re interested in adding this column to the WordPress Media/Library screen, I’d be interested to know why you use that screen instead of the Media/Assistant screen? Is there something I might add to the Media/Assistant screen instead?

Actually I think I was using the wrong view name (assistant vs. library screen) or otherwise confusing you. I do use Assistant screen. But as I found out, it’s just a bit confusing before you have used it for a while since there’s so much data available. Now it all makes more sense and I think your Assistant view serves all the data one could need.

Last but not least.. Amazing work with internationalization. I will send you my email to help with preparing those .po files. Unfortunately I can only help you with this really small language of Finnish, but hey, at least WordPress is pretty popular in Finland ??

Thank you for this update and the good news regarding columns on the Media/Assistant submenu. Thanks as well for the e-mail you sent about helping with translation.

I have released MLA version 1.70, which includes the internationalized code, the Portable Object Template (/languages/en_US.pot) file and the Internationalization Guide (/languages/MLA Internationalization Guide.pdf). That should be everything you need to get started. I would be happy to help in any way I can, and I welcome any feedback on the source texts or any other aspect of the work.

I am marking this issue resolved, but please update it with any questions, problems or suggestions you have. Thanks again for your interest in the plugin.
