No error after restore but posts and media are missing

Thats the current active theme after the restore

It seem like the restoration finished successfully, I couldn’t notice any issue.

Above theme you shared screenshot of, is used during restoration to prevent Ajax issues and after restoration it should be removed.

In your case it seem like you didn’t have any theme active before restoration (or active theme during backup creation). Because of that our plugin was not sure to which theme it should switch, so, it WordPress simply kept latest active theme.

Solution for that is very simple, you only need to activate theme of your choice and it should be gone.

The thing is, the restoration wasn’t successful. I took the screenshot after it told me that the backup was successful. I had an active theme before. I can see that it got restored, aswell as all my plugins.

I will also add that i’ve already used this backup successfully once, with another WordPress installation. I’ve retried the restoration process to get the log:

I just saw i got an answer from you via the chat option aswell. I will copy it here:

It may be possible that your wp-config.php couldn’t be modified by our plugin due to restricted permissions.

If that’s the case, please make sure that $table_prefix variable is set properly (should be the same prefix as on the website where you created the backup).

– Prefix for your backup is exactly:?bwthqhvno1Regarding??backup_migration_restoration_in_progress”, that?theme is used during restoration and it should be removed after it.If there was no?theme active before or $table_prefix issue explained above applied, you could experience such issue, same applies to posts.?
Regarding Media files, make sure that Uploads directory was included in the backup during?creation (by default it’s included unless you modified the configuration).Simplest way to verify that would be to open backup ZIP file using WinRAR or 7-Zip archive viewer and inspect wordpress/wp-content directory.?– There should be directory named Uploads, if you can find that, files should be restored in place.?

I will look later today if the $table_prefix is set properly, but does it explain the missing media?

As I mentioned in e-mail, media shouldn’t be related to table prefix.

But in first place we need to get to the root of the issue, why that happened after getting successful restoration window.

So I’ve checked, and the culprit is most likely the $table_prefix in the wp-config.php in my setup. Since I also tried it with another WordPress install on a cloud server, I’m sure the problem lies with my specific setup.

I used the official Docker image to deploy the site via Portainer. And apparently the docker image pulls the wp-config.php in a special way:

NOTE: Since March 2021, WordPress images use a customized wp-config.php that pulls the values directly from the environment variables defined above (see wp-config-docker.php in docker-library/wordpress#572 and docker-library/wordpress#577). As a result of reading environment variables directly, the cli container also needs the same set of environment variables to properly evaluate wp-config.php.

I’m sure the solution lies somewhere here, but since I’m missing the technical knowledge of Docker, Portainer and frankly WordPress, I’ll stop here for now and go with a classic VM.

Alright, thank you for the update, I wasn’t aware there is such thing like wp-config-docker.php.

If you’re running only one or few sites, it may be even better for you to keep it like classic VM / VPS, especially in terms of speed and available resources.
