No Effect on "comments are off"

    Hah! While I was messing around with this trying to avoid hacking the PHP of my theme, I turned on JetPack Comments and turned it back off again. Even after being “deactivated”, JetPack comments caused a “comments are closed” remark on every post, in addition to the “comments are off” that was already on every post. So I reinstalled this plugin, and it worked instantly on “comments are closed.” The original “comments are off” business endures.
