I’m using the Premium version, which is licensed, so I just wanted to warn anyone using the free version and considering upgrading – don’t.

The Yoast Website is a mess, shockingly. Whoever they paid robbed them, because the layout is all over the place. My biggest concern is, there is NO documentation. Once you install any version of this plugin, you’re basically on your own.

Just one example of the blind data entry forced on users – version 3 has tabs in the Snippet Editor / Keyword / Analysis section. Who knows what new benefits adding another tab creates, because there are no instructions!

The Snippet Editor lost the word count feature, replaced with a dynamic color change when you run out of space. Kind of stupid in my opinion and really adds no value to the Snippet Editor – you don’t find out you ran out of space until all the text turns red.

Another part of the Snippet editor that is a mess – when clicking the edit button (a small pencil) for the title you lose what was there – it turns blank – so you start typing. If you mess up or decide to go back to what you had, it’s gone.

Also, when you update to version 3+ you lose the suggestion drop down for your keywords! Yoast claims this functionality was removed due to Google shutting down the autocomplete API. Well, I went back to version 2+ and it works!

Anyways, use at your own risk, or at your Website’s risk.

I’m an idiot – didn’t even realize I was posting under support. Thanks.

    Hi Dave!

If you’re a premium user of our plugin, we’ll be more than happy to help you. If you go to https://kb.yoast.com/ , there’s a contact form there.

The auto-suggest feature in Yoast disappeared in version 2.3 because the Google API for it deprecated. We are looking for an alternative method in future releases.

If you’re still having issues with the Snippet Editor,in version 3.0.7 of Yoast SEO Premium, please contact us through the premium support line and we’ll be more than happy to help.

I agree version 3 is a mess, but the keyword suggestion tool isn’t their fault. Google pulled their api for that feature and won’t allow developers to use it anymore.

@pwizard – odd it works in v2 but not v3.

Also, when you update to version 3+ you lose the suggestion drop down for your keywords! Yoast claims this functionality was removed due to Google shutting down the autocomplete API. Well, I went back to version 2+ and it works!

Probably because it’s deprecated not completely removed (by google).

Hi all, I have been using this plugin for quite some time now. As always with any major upgrade or update there will be some issues with other plugins, a theme or even the server settings like PHP version etc. If you look at the changelog you will see that with every upgrade or update there were a few versions before it was stable. I for one still am running the old stable 2 version. I am waiting for this new version to become more stable.

In other words don’t upgrade to this version unless you have first created a backup or you have done some testing on a testing platform if you have one available.

This is a great plugin and does work very well. I hope the above helps you in some way.

    Kind regards

PS I am not affiliated to Yoast SEO.

This “was” a great plugin. Version 3 is still far from stable.

Also staying with 2. version until version 3 becomes stable. I’m sure it is a headache for the developers too as I can see the number of support tickets are substantial and the reviews are taking a turn for the worse.
