No Doc on Files tab File exclusions

The documentation for backWPup has quite a few gaps. The info I am currently hunting for:
On the Files tab, “Exclude files/folders from backup”, what syntax of file and or folders is supported?

The defaults appear to show these examples:
Folder: /foldername/
File: full-file-name.ext
File (wildcard extension): .ext

Some others I would expect:
File (wildcard prefix): file-prefix (or perhaps file-prefix. ???)

(I need the prefix form of filename right now ?? )
