    Hi,

I need to restore a backup of my wordpress site, and have my encrypted backup file ready on my local server.

However, having read the direction to upload the file to the ‘Decrypt’ section of the plugin, I cannot find any such function on the plugin dashboard or anywhere else on Worpdress.

Having read several other forum topics, it seems that there should be a decryption folder in the file manager for the site, but that folder doesn’t exist on my folder structure.

    What am I missing?

    Details of plugin:
Online Backup for WordPress Plugin Version 3.0.2
    WordPress Version: 3.6 (standalone)
    PHP Version: 5.3.20
    Server Software: Apache
    MySQL Server Version: 5.1.70-cll
MySQL Client Version: 1.0; MySQL Packet Size: 16?MiB
    Memory: 256M; Post: 20M; Upload: 20M; Timeout: 30
Memory Changable: Yes; Admin Cache Size: 102.82?KiB
Status: 1 row, 0?B packet size, 0?B cache freed, 0?B memory used
    Capabilities: hashcopy gzdeflate php5hash DES AES128 AES192 AES256
    End of Information

I would very much appreciate your quick response to this.

    Thanks

    Hi Markonex,

This was moved in version 3.0.0, apologies for the inconvenience.

Upload the backup file to “wp-content/backups/”.

Once it uploads, go to the plugin “Local Backups” – it will appear in there, and there will be a Decrypt option. The decryptions process was completely rewritten and works much better with big backups, and it was built into the local backups feature.

    HI Jason,

I really appreciate the speedy response mate, thanks, and that seems to have done the trick.

It’s worth noting to anyone reading this post however, that I had not been using the local backup function (was using the email backup option) and so the backup folder that you described

      was not visible

UNTIL I thought to do a manual local backup, and this then created the Backup folder in the correct location on the file structure.

    Thanks.

    Hi Owen,

Simply visiting the Local Backups page should create that folder. Or you can create yourself and just upload. I’ll check this. Maybe it’s worth creating it during activation or something to ensure it’s always there!

    Hi Jason,

I had already visited the Local Backups page, but that didn’t seem to create the folder, so I decided to create a backup.

I can see why your team may have decided to create the decryption options only after backups have been made, however for smoother use and navigation of the plugin I would recommend that something be directly visible in the dashboard area once ANY TYPE of backup is created.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Thanks Owen,

We never decided to make decryption options appear only after backups were made. I believe there is a message about decryption in the Local Backups page and how to upload files there, but of course this isn’t immediately visible and you’d not see it if looking for it. I’ve marked it down as something we can improve on for sure.

I’ll also make sure that wp-content/backups exists as soon as the plugin is activated, that way nobody gets confused trying to look for it when it was never created!

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

    Jason
