• –Using new 4.0 raw install of WP with default theme 2013. No alterations. Bare bones settings.

–Only plug in installed/using is s2Member with bare bones settings.

–All is working perfect with signing up a member through PayPal, member level is set and member info is showing up in the WP Users log where is should. All is perfect until the user goes to sign in.

–User logs in and a page comes up with a “no data received” message. It’s supposed to go to my Members Welcome page, which is set with the s2Member plugin.

    Here, you try it:

    Site: iLearnFaster.com
scroll to bottom and click Log In

click Log in and see what comes up.

I’ve spent and entire week trying to trouble-shoot this issue…. bothering the heck out of the hosting service, ProHosters… online forums, etc. Prohosters says it’s WP for sure and NO ONE else knows what the problem is or how to fix.

Every one of the threads I’ve read so far are just people blaming each other or some host or whatever with no solutions. It’s ridiculous.

Is there anyone living who can help me resolve this?

  • Yes, they will create their own sections on the admin sidebar (Aryo high up; Plainview low down). I suggest using both because they log different things.

    good. thanks for you help!

You’re welcome. I’d be interested to hear how you get on when you reinstall s2Member.

I’ll let you know. been a long road for this plug in so far. I hope it works!

    Well, same news.

I ended up deleting WP completely and reinstalling everything again because, even though I completely deleted s2, for some reason it still kept the settings. I installed Aryo and query-monitor. Plainview got a fatal error trying to install and it has bad reviews anyway.

I installed s2, put in the settings and the exact same thing as the other three complete reinstalls happened. signup works up until the member tries to log in. I have the log from Query Monitor but don’t know how to read it.

The bad reviews for Plainview are from users who don’t read the instructions (i.e. they haven’t got the right version of PHP installed). I’m not including you here, by the way, because you just did what I suggested!

But this might provide a clue here, because it suggests you are running version 5.3 or lower.

Query Monitor probably won’t help you much for this sort of thing (though it’s an absolutely outstanding plugin), but it will tell you what version of PHP you have.

So my next questions are: (a) what version of PHP do you have, and (b) who is your host?

    Thanks for responding!
    I use https://prohosters.com/
I looked up the installed apps and there’s
    phpMyAdmin 2.7.0pl2
    MySQL Server 3.23.58
    Apache module mod_php4 4.3.11

    Does that help?

I’m looking at query monitor now for php version

    Thread Starter mercurygrafx

    (@mercurygrafx)

    found this in query monitor:
    Server
    software Apache
    version 2.0.51
    address 66.197.94.97
    host host01155.ve.carpathiahost.net

    Thread Starter mercurygrafx

    (@mercurygrafx)

    PHP
    version 5.2.17

    found it

OMG! Your server is running on software that’s over ten years old! Edit: I mean database.

And that PHP is also really old. You should be on at least 5.3, ideally 5.4 or 5.5.

Unless you are using cPanel and haven’t set up the URL settings correctly, I think the location of your problem is pretty clear.

I don’t know what you are paying for this, but I’d strongly suggest moving. I can give you a recommendation if you want, and they’ll even handle the move for you. But that’s up to you.

You solved the problem. After a freak’n week of time. I have a host I can use… friend of mine and my son works there too so I’m set. I can’t thank you enough!

You’re welcome! Glad we could identify the problem — and that you have an easy solution!
