• Hi Kento,

after the latest update, I can’t see menu items (on site and admin panel) as well as page content on my site.
I didn’t made any backups, since it only runs on a development server. Unfortunately, that’s why I can’t really see what change led to this behaviour.
I have 4 groups and all of their capabilities are added to the “enforce read access on posts”. Admin override is checked/on. Admin is also member of the highest group as well as the registered group. However, when I edit a page, I also can’t any longer set groups permissions.

    Any clue?

    Hi Jens,

Regarding editing a page and the access restrictions:

As an admin you can create new restrictions using the access restrictions box, they are created along with their capability when you input the desired group there and update a post.

Concerning the access restrictions, have you checked if the admin is a member of those groups and the access restriction capabilities are correctly set for each group? Please provide details on how you have set it up and I’ll point you towards any possible errors there. Also please double-check if the admin override is set.

Please also provide details on other plugins installed and enable debugging in WordPress and post the contents of the debug.log through pastebin.com

    Cheers

@gianbie Please post your own topic and provide as much detail on your current setup. Even though your issues might seem similar, this topic is about Jens’ particular setup which is most likely very different than yours. When you post your own topic, please also provide details on other plugins installed and enable debugging in WordPress and post the contents of the debug.log through pastebin.com

People not signed in to the web site can only see site banner, no content.

Public can not see site, Admin, or general test member account not in any groups have no access to site either.

    @itthinx

I think this is all related. I just updated my Groups plugin and all WooCommerce functionality went out of the door – logging into the wp-login.php redirected to the my account login page (without the form). Not able to access anything woocommerce related. Reverted back to my backup and all is good now, but this is definitely a big problem. Please let me know if you need more info from me to help.

    Thanks!

I didn’t change my setting (and restored the setting that got changed by the update). When I deactivate the plugin, everything works. So it’s definitely related to the latest update.
    Debug doesn’t find anything relevant.

I made some screenshots of my setting:

@jens Thanks for the screenshots. What other plugins are activated on the site? If you have any caching plugin, have you cleared the cache?

@itthinx here are the plugins I’m using if that helps. All plugins are up-to-date except yours (because I reverted back to the previous version from a backup after updating broke the woocommerce functionality). Thanks!

W3TC caches the page. But cache is cleared. The fact that everything works as soon as I deactivate groups also point in another direction.

    Other Plugins:
    Woocommerce
    Woocommerce subscriptions
    Groups for woocommerce

This has also happened on my two of my websites at the same time after updating plugin. https://www.archenemys.com and https://www.carrielachance.com

I narrowed it down to the groups plugin update. 1.4.13 works find but 1.4.14 pretty much breaks the sites.

I’ve downgraded until this bug is fixed…

Same thing happening here under X-Theme by Themeco.

All pages content disappeared (but still there in the backend), all menus gone (and not only visually, the menus are here in the backend but they have all been emptied).

Cache is not at issue. While there’s no fatal error, there’s definitely a bunch of PHP Errors :

    Undefined variable: found
    Count : 56
    wp-content/plugins/groups/lib/access/class-groups-post-access.php:396

    Undefined variable: found

    Undefined variable: found
    Count : 1
    wp-content/plugins/groups/lib/core/class-groups-capability.php:201

Reverting back to 1.4.13 for now!

@jens I’ve replicated your setup on a test site and don’t get the issues you describe. What versions are you using? Also what PHP version and on what server environment please?

    Plugin Author itthinx

    (@itthinx)

@jens Also what theme and at which version please. And please try switching to a ‘standard’ theme to see if that makes a difference. Do you have anything added in the theme’s functions.php that might be related?

    Latest versions oft everything.
System: ubuntu Server with nginx, using MySQL and hhvm.
I will run some more tests with different server settings tomorrow. However, since the other guys in this thread have the same issues: could it be that this is a database issue that happens only when you upgrade the older groups Version and database entries? Did you change something at the database level?
