• I am stuck with the comments/reply/discussion

I have tried everything to activate it, using the settings, on each posts etc. and even downloading a plugin, reading forums about it etc.
It seems to be a common problem (as I found out researching the issue) first I thought it was because of a theme or a plugin but changing and deactivating them it is still the same issue.
it doesn′t work on the post page or when reading an individual post, the only way it works it′s via the Archives!
Any help appreciated asap thank you!

  • Hi yas-admin, when you activated your comments I assume you did it through Settings > Discussion and them check marked “Allow people to post comments on new articles”, correct? Each already published blog post has an individual comment setting, however.

When you edit a blog post, under the box Discussion, make sure the “Allow comments” box is checked. If you do not see the Discussion box, click the Screen Options button in the top right corner.

If that does not help, try using one of the default WordPress themes (IE. Twenty Fourteen) and make sure to deactivate all your plugins.

    this is my blog
    https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog

I have just noticed something though..
the comment seems to work when i click on Archive and because the page in the address bar is https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog/name of post
I customised this in the permalinks (even though I have no idea why or what it is all about but I read about it in forum)
so the rest, like the posts accessed via the post page and links from the main menu, etc. do not have this name—
is there something i should do? is the problem there? can i permalink each page, posts etc? even if i don’t understand it…
    Please let me know how
    THANKS

Updating the permalinks should not have an impact on your comments. Your comment form is appearing fine for me. Such as here:
    https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog/a-citizen-of-the-world/

When you say your comments are not appearing, do you mean the comment form, or actual comments submitted by users? Could you show me a link of a post where the comments are not working? As well a link where the comments are working?

    Hi Moodrop
am talking about the comment form
when i click on posts you can see the posts now one after the other and I tried also one post per page before but didn′t make a difference as comment form is concerned)
    https://www.yasminesamiry.com/blog/posts-2/
if you navigated within the POSTS page, you can′t see the comment form (previous/ next entries)
Its only when i click on the Archive that you see a excerpt then click on more then you can see the form.
Is there maybe a way to just put excerpts on the posts pages so people have to click into it (read more) and then get the post with form etc.
Anyway, this is not happening just clicking on the POSTS page from the menu which is annoying as most will go read a post from the menu.

Also I have no idea why the page does′t move down, I mean apart from HOME, all other pages seem to be stuck too high so go into the image and name of blog. can you also see this? i think this is a theme things though.

    Thanks for your help

Ah I see what you mean now. This issue has to do with your theme.

Your theme is setup to display the full post content on the Posts listing page. This does not includes the comments however. Comments are shown on a post’s individual page. Normally, the Posts listing page displays an excerpt only. Then the user clicks into the individual post page to reveal the full post content and the comments. Such as here: https://twentytwelvedemo.wordpress.com/blog/

You can not change the display from a full post content to an excerpt in the wp-admin/backend unless your specific theme set up those options. The only way to do so is to choose a new theme or modify your theme’s code. You need to change the_content() to the_excerpt().

    i see thanks!
well it is a little complicated even though i have learned now more just reading the forums!
well the full post to excerpt is just something i thought about to be able to display the comment form. i don′t really care if it is full content or excerpt, am more worried about the comment form not showing.
But this theme has more problem like the title of the blog showing not enough or too much, you will understand if you go look into my pages (apart from home), it just over runs on everything, like the space is too small.
