NO comment box even with code

  • I am having a weird issue with my wordpress site. I understand the default setting is for comments to be turned on; however, they are not on. At first I thought it was an issue with the theme, so I tried a few other different themes, and I noticed in one theme, for example, at the bottom of where my posts are the ‘leave a comment’ link leads to nowhere. Other themes I have tried have said ‘comments closed’.

    I have looked EVERYWHERE through the dashboard; I have gone through settings>discussion and even made it so that anyone could post a comment regardless of my approval, but STILL for the life of me I cannot get any type of comment box or reply field or anything. What in the world can i do? I even had a friend who is a developer look at the code and he said it seemed fine to him; I have tried the adding code box code fix but the code for it was already there.

    Has anyone heard of an issue like this?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Also a link to your site would help.

    ugh yes i just tried that and it worked (deactivating and then reactivating)… THANK YOU

    I am also having the same problem with my new blog using WP Theme2010

    There is a comment box on my page here:

    The problem is there is no comment box on my posts/Home page.

    I have tried deactivating all plugins, resetting the plugin folder via FTP, upgrading to WP theme 2011, making sure in quick edit allow comments is ticked, discussion settings also allow comments but still no comment box.

    I’m at my wits end. I would like to have comments on my posts which are on the Home page. Can anyone please help?
