hi , i tried to smush one image from the lib. looks like something did happened and i got: Reduced by 153.09 KB ( 51.2% ) but,
when i went back to the edit page of product nothing changed at the details of the item (file size and dimensions are remain the same).

    Hey there tamarica,

    Hope you’re well today ??

First of all compression used by WP Smush is not changing your image resolution and quality so resolution should always stay the same.

Once you upload the image to your media library WordPress creates thumbnails, different sizes of the same image that are being used on different places on your site, example of that would be thumbnails of post featured image on your blog page.

Reduction being displayed there “Reduced by 153.09 KB ( 51.2% )” is actually total reduction that is being done on all thumbnails of that image, what is most likely the case here is that full size image (the one you see in library) is being skipped as plugin couldn’t compress anything for that specific size of the image.

    Hope this makes sense ??

    Best regards,
    Bojan

In the latest update you can view how much was smushed off each thumbnail size now in your media library.

Also something to consider is if you are using CDN, it might be serving your cached original size image even though the plugin compressed the version on your server.
