    Hi Sidney

I’ve just updated the plugin and my subscribe page no longer shows any categories.

I’m not sure what version I was on previously but I havent updated for a while (maybe June)

The shortcode I have on my page is…

    [stc-subscribe category_id_in=”40,40,15,5”]

Are there some new settings I need to set to make the shortcode work?

    Thanks
    Darren

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @darrenmpower, I checked your issue im my xampp (local system setup) and I can confirm that you have found a problem. This will be solved as soon as possible. I will have a go at this problem on tomorrow first thing.

I fixed the problem causing categories not to be shown when the category attributes where where used.

New version 2.4.3 released as of now

    Hi Sidney

Thanks 2.4.3 added the categories back, but I have just updated to 2.4.5 and now only 1 of the categories displays.

    It only displays category 5

    [stc-subscribe category_id_in=”40,15,5”]

Which is the last in the list, but it is the only top level category in the list. Both 5 & 15 are sub categories.

Also when I first used the plugin the included categories were just listed without the structure and the need to click the arrows to display them, could we have an option to display just the list of categories as before?

    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

If 15 and 5 are sub categories you have to use the index of the the level 0 parent from these sub categories.

In a tree view you can not start with a sub category.

As for you request to display the categories as before. This means treating all categories as equal and ignoring the fact that they are in fact sub categories. Why are they sub categories just make them level 0.

However it may be nice to have an option which opens the tree view initially. This will be available in the next version of STC.

    Hi Sidney

The reason I have sub categories is because the site is set up as a membership site with various different levels and to organise the posts we have a level 0 category for each membership and sub categories underneath them.

I have added the level 0 category to my shortcode and still only category 5 displays. 15 & 40 are sub categories of 14.

    [stc-subscribe category_id_in=”14,40,15,5”]

Having the tree open when it loads would be useful.

    Thanks

    Hi Darren,
I could find nothing wrong but was missing number 14 just like you. I deleted the category_id_in attribute completely to see if the whole tree displayed. And yes it did. Thereafter I reentered the category_id_in=”14,5″ values and it worked as it should. I also added to two sub categories and that also work fine (they are are ignored because not level 0). My guess is that some obscure character must haven been in the attribute. You can try it yourselves it works.

How ever I see your point in your use case and will look into an option that when using category in filters they are listed without any hierarchy ignoring parents and / or children. Just how it used to work.

    Hi Darren,
Thanks for having a look at your site. It motivated me to do the work of which I thought it was needed with to complete the transition to custom taxonomies. That work required the treeview approach. But as your site pointed clearly out to me the all benefits from STC should not be lost.

So therefore I have introduced two short code attributes:
    1. treeview_folded if your add treeview_folded=”false” the treeview will start unfolded
    2. treeview_enabled if you add treeview_enabled=”false” the categories together with the taxonomies will be display as a ordered list. As bonus the category / taxonomy filters will work as they used to work. This means no hierarchy applied at all.

Version 2.4.6 has just been released in which you will find all the goodies.

    Have fun, Sidney
