No avatars on comments

Two things come to mind: An error during the avatar lookup (there should be something in the logs) or you consented as an anonymous commenter but are posting as a logged-in user (or vice versa).

(My avatar is displayed, BTW.)

@newslicer, have you checked for any error messages in the PHP error log?

It’s strange:

1. I checked the box “Show the Gravatar for my mail address” in WordPress Backend
2. My Gravatar is shown on the author site of my own blog here: https://www.videospielgeschichten.de/author/andre/
3. But in the comments my Gravatar is not shown. Surely I checked the box to do so.
4. When I comment on other sites (e.g. https://www.retropixels.at/chips-challenge-atari-lynx-1989/#comment-167) my Gravatar is not shown either.

My conclusion so far:
– My Gravatar is basically working. It’s also shown in my WordPress iOS App within comments

Can you tell me where to find the PHP log?

The location of the log files is dependent on your specific server configuration, so I can only give you general hints. The PHP log file should be referenced in your php.ini.

If your avatar does not show on other sites using the plugin, the problem might be with your gravatar. The plugin caches the response from the server, @newslicer do you, per chance, use an image with a higher permissible age rating? If so, there might be an issue with the call that checks for the existence of a gravatar image.

My Gravatar is rated “G”. It should be displayed I guess.

I just deactivated the use of Gravatar in the users profile on my blog and uploaded a local image. That image is also not shown.

PS: if I deactivate your plugin, all Gravatar images are shown well.

Now that is quite weird. You are posting as a logged-in user, @newslicer? If so, there probably is an unforeseen interaction between the theme, Avatar Privacy and (maybe) Comet Cache. You might try deactivating that temporarily, just to check if that has any effect.

I cleared and decativated comet cache, logged out of WordPress backend and commented twice.

Now it gets even weirder. The comments are show (approved) in my WordPress backend and iOS app but NOT ob the website. They are not shown at all.

It’s warm outside. I hope I’m getting not crazy today ??

The Avatar of @newslicer is not shown on my site too (https://www.retropixels.at/chips-challenge-atari-lynx-1989/#comment-168). I use an other Theme and no caching plugin. Seems like Avatar Privacy does not like his Gravatar…

What image format is the gravatar image? Anything but JPEG and PNG is not accepted at the moment.

The image is 384?×?512 JPEG.

I might change the theme temporarily and check if my other theme have the same issue.

That would be great, even if only too rule it out.

Just switched to Twenty Sixteen Theme. And unfortunately having the same issue. No Gravatar is displayed ??

I think there is some problem with the image. Please send me a mail via https://code.mundschenk.at, I‘ll look into it when I‘m back in town tomorrow.

I created a new Gravatar with a different mail address. Same problem. Without the plugin, all Gravatars are shown.

I’ll send you a mail.

But for now the plugin is not usable for me.
